The cost of NOT going solar in Phoenix is $72,000.

That's the average APS bill from 2026 to 2051 if you do nothing. SunPath designs the system, runs the permits, files the federal credit, and locks your rate at install — across 1,400+ Arizona homes since 2012. Real ROI math, not a sales pitch.

Why we exist

Solar is an engineering project, not a sales call.

The Arizona solar industry has a sales-bro problem. Forty thousand "energy consultants" knocking doors with iPad pitch decks and lead-gen apps. They quote a system before they know your roof orientation, your panel preferences, your shading map, or whether your electrical service can even handle a backfeed.

SunPath is built differently. Founder-owner Devin Larsen is a licensed PE with 18 years in residential energy. Every quote is preceded by a 90-minute on-site engineering walkthrough — laser shade analysis, drone roof scan, panel-fit modeling on the actual rafters. We can tell you in writing what the array will produce in July at 4 PM, because we measured.

And we don't subcontract install. Twenty-three NABCEP-certified installers, all W-2 employees, all on a salary. Same crew on your roof from kick-off to commissioning. No "oh, that was a partner crew, we'll have someone reach out."

Install methodology

Six steps. Roughly six weeks.

The whole sequence, named, billed transparently. We will tell you where you are at every step.

— 01 · WEEK 1

On-site engineering walk

Devin or one of two senior PEs walks the roof, runs laser shade analysis, drone-scans the structure, and confirms electrical-service capacity.

— 02 · WEEK 2

Custom design + quote

System layout and panel selection modeled to your roof. Real production numbers per month, in writing. Three financing options drawn up.

— 03 · WEEK 3

Permits + utility paperwork

City permit, APS interconnection, HOA approval (where required). All filed by us. Average permit-pull is 11 business days.

— 04 · WEEK 4

Equipment delivery

Panels, inverters, racking, optional batteries arrive at our warehouse. Quality-check the boxes before they leave for your address.

— 05 · WEEK 5

Install + inspection

One to three days on the roof depending on system size. City inspection scheduled within 48 hrs of install completion.

— 06 · WEEK 6

PTO + commissioning

Permission-to-operate from APS, monitoring app activated, walkthrough with the homeowner. Production guarantee starts at first kWh.

— 07

Federal credit filing

We prepare the IRS Form 5695 documentation packet and walk it through with your CPA. No homeowner left figuring out the ITC alone.

— 08

Year-one production audit

At the 12-month mark we audit actual production vs. modeled and credit you back if we underperformed our own forecast. We rarely do.

Equipment

The brands we'll put on your roof.

We are vendor-agnostic by design. We'll spec the panel and inverter combination that produces best on your specific roof — sometimes Q CELLS, sometimes REC Alpha, sometimes SunPower Maxeon. The right answer depends on shading, temp coefficient, and module degradation curves, all of which we model before we quote.

For batteries, we are Tesla Powerwall certified and Generac PWRcell certified. Most homeowners pick the Powerwall 3; some pick Generac for the multi-zone backup feature.

REC Alpha Pure

Tier-1 N-type, 25-yr product warranty, 92% retention at year 25.

Q CELLS Q.PEAK DUO

Half-cut monocrystalline, 25-yr product, low-light optimized.

SunPower Maxeon 6

Premium tier. 40-yr product warranty. Highest cost-per-watt, longest cycle.

Enphase IQ8M

Microinverter standard. Per-panel MPPT, sunlight-backup feature.

Tesla Powerwall 3

13.5 kWh, integrated inverter, 10-yr Tesla warranty. The default battery.

Generac PWRcell

Modular up to 36 kWh. Multi-zone backup. The right call for full-home off-grid.

Incentives

Stack the credits. Net cost falls.

Federal, state, utility, and SREC incentives — we file all of them on your behalf. The net cost of your system is roughly half the sticker price after stacking.

— FEDERAL

Federal Solar ITC

30% federal tax credit on full system cost. Form 5695. We prepare the documentation packet for your CPA.

30% credit
— ARIZONA

AZ Residential Tax Credit

25% of system cost, up to $1,000 lifetime per residence. Filed via AZ Form 310.

$1,000 lifetime
— UTILITY

APS Net Billing

Avoided-cost-of-energy export rate, locked for 10 years from install. We file the interconnection paperwork.

$0.075/kWh export
— PROPERTY

Property Tax Exemption

Your property assessment does not increase due to solar. AZ statute 42-11054.

100% exempt

Questions

Before you sign.

How long does install take?

Six weeks contract-to-PTO is typical for a residential install. The actual rooftop work is one to three days. The rest is permitting and utility interconnect.

What about HOA approval?

We handle all HOA paperwork. Arizona statute 33-1816 prohibits HOAs from blocking solar; we cite the statute when needed. Approval is typically 10-14 business days.

Will my panels work in winter?

Yes. Phoenix gets 73 fewer kWh per panel in December than in June, but you'll still net-export on 80% of winter days.

What if my roof needs replacement?

If your roof has less than 10 years of life, we recommend re-roofing first. We coordinate with your roofer, remove the panels for the project, and reinstall — all without re-permitting.

Battery vs grid-tie only?

Grid-tie only is cheaper and pays back faster, but you lose power when APS goes down. Battery adds 15-20% to system cost in exchange for backup. We model both for you.

Production guarantee?

We guarantee 95% of modeled year-one production. If we miss, we credit you the difference. We've paid out twice in 14 years.

What if I sell the house?

Owned systems transfer with the property and add to home value (+4.1% in AZ per LBNL). Leased systems require lender approval and are usually transferred via the leasing company.

Financing options?

Cash, $0-down 0%-APR for 18 months, 7.99% for 240 months, or solar lease (we don't recommend leases unless tax-credit ineligible).

Run your real numbers.
